It’s been a while since I posted on my strip club projects.
I finished an old strip club project.
We exchanged neutral strips for this quilt back in early 2016. I actually finished the top relatively quickly. The pattern is Off-Track by Cluck Cluck Sew. I used my scraps for this project, picking pieces that were African or jungle theme. It’s been gifted to an aunt. This was also one of my Q3 Finish-It-Up goals.
I completed this top for July’s club.
This is another time that we exchanged neutrals. We also had to choose a pattern from Cozy Quilt Designs. A little difficult since I had to find a pattern that incorporated 2.5″ neutral strips.
I started with these strips. I tried to pick all strips that had a gold print or would work nicely with the gold prints.
After spending a lot of time looking through Cozy Quilts website along with quilts on Pinterest, I realized I had a book by Cozy Quilts, “Fat Quarters Anonymous”. I decided to go with the pattern Oregon Trail, since it used the 2.5″ strips.
Next it was deciding which fabric to use. It had to go with the gold of the neutrals. I started with the brown flower fabric, and picked out colors that coordinated. I ended up with a selection that I wouldn’t normally put together, but it works.
September’s club project is to use a tool we’ve never used before. We didn’t exchange any fabric. My tool is the Super Sidekick Ruler by Jaybird Quilts. I’m using the pattern Cookie Cutter, also by Jaybird. More about that in this post. This is as far as I’ve gotten:
I’m hoping to at least have a full hexagon before the meeting!
In September we’ll be exchanging 20 coordinating 5″ squares. Time to start cutting those.
